COLOUR SERVICE
The perfect shade for every wood finish
Our colour lab can change the natural colour of the timber to virtually any colour you wish whilst, importantly, preserving the unique grain pattern. The lighter coloured hardwoods can be treated in various ways to change the hue, contrast and intensity of the colour. The colour range is infinite: from off white, through glowing tints, to a deep rich black. The effects are achieved in different ways: oils, lacquers, staining, bleaching, ultra-violet oiling, smoking and fuming.
You need a colour in mind to start the process. If not, we will work with you in our showroom to create a colour you like. Or, if you have a colour reference (a corporate colour, for example), our lab will work to that.
Our fumed and smoked colours are achieved through a process which reacts with the natural tannins in the Oak and, although we use controlled processes, the final colours are determined by nature and not by using pigmentated stains. The difference between smoking and fuming is that smoking penetrates the veneer surface by 0.5 – 2mm whilst the fumed penetrates the entire veneer layer.
